On August 7, 2025, Child Abuse Charges PC 273d(a) Charges Are Dismissed. Client pleads guilty to Disturbing the Peace – PC 415(2)

Our Client, Nathaniel, was accused of disciplining a child in violation of PC 273d(a). Through successful negotiation with the prosecution, we were able to reduce the offense to disturbing the peace, PC 415(2), which essentially saved the client from work related dismissal. Our client began a consistent rehabilitative effort aimed to modifying his style of parenting and the prosecution was willing to amend the charges to allow a dismissal of the more serious charge, in exchange for a disturbing the peace conviction. This plea resulted in 12 months of summary probation versus the normal and standard 48 months. Client did no jail time and was ordered to do 20 hours of community service, along with 16 hours of anger management program.

At KIA LAW FIRM, we recognize that people make mistakes. If we realize that a client broke the law, we still try to reduce their exposure and minimize their convictions through strategic planning.
