A very difficult Arson case resolves on the day of trial, please read below

Our client, Isaac, was charged with PC 451, willful and malicious arson. He was facing a strike, mandatory prison (a presumption that he could not obtain probation) and significant state prison time.  We accepted the case several years ago. Isaac had a wonderful case, a case that we believed the government could not prove a willful and malicious burning of a building.  His defense was that his actions were accidental and quasi reckless, but never willful and malicious. After two years of litigating this case and hiring experts, the case settled for 2 years of probation and 180 days of community labor. While we didn’t get into the specific details of this in this post, we wanted to highlight the importance of effective representation. That requires detailed analysis of the facts and the hiring of the appropriate experts to assist in a case such as this magnitude. As you can see, the case resolved on the day we were scheduled to commence trial. We obtained the best offer from the prosecutor days before we were expected to pick our jury. Our client and his family were very thankful and we will remain lifetime friends.
