Felony Domestic Violence Charges Dismissed on September 10, 2025 (48 Hours Before We Start Trial)
Our client, Eduardo, was arrested for domestic violence charges. When he went to court, he utilized the services of a public defender. He was then given an offer to settle the case for a felony. He rejected that offer and thereafter hired our law firm. We fought the case for 17 months. At the preliminary hearing, the Judge asked what the status of settlement negotiations were. They had offered our client the opportunity to plead to a misdemeanor before preliminary hearing. We rejected that offer. The prosecutor then revoked her misdemeanor offer and raised their offer to a felony domestic violence charges and for my client to do 210 days of community labor with other conditions. We rejected that offer as well. We announced ready for trial on September 30, 2025. We anticipated getting a courtroom and fighting the case in front of a jury. On October 10, 2025, on day 9 of 10 for trial, the prosecutor dismissed the entire case against Eduardo. What do we learn from this? That fighting is key. We learn that when you hire the right team in your corner, magic happens. Our client has restored his good name.
